A number of lay-bys on the A404 in Buckinghamshire are set to close temporarily as National Highways carries out maintenance and renewal works along the route.
The closures will affect lay-bys located between the A404(M) at Junction 9B and the Handy Cross Interchange at M40 Junction 4.
National Highways said the temporary restrictions are being introduced to protect both road users and construction teams while maintenance activities are undertaken.
The works form part of a wider programme of maintenance and renewal across the strategic road network, including sections of the A3, A27, A31, A34, A303 and A404 in a number of counties and unitary authority areas.
The closures will operate 24 hours a day when required and will remain in place until the relevant works have been completed.
Management of the restrictions will be undertaken through Network Availability Management, with the legal order expected to remain in force until 24 December 2027.
National Highways has confirmed that no diversion routes will be required, with affected lay-bys clearly signed whenever closures are in operation.
The organisation said the measures are necessary to maintain safety standards during the delivery of the maintenance programme and to minimise risks to both motorists and highway workers.
