Amberon TM | Excelling with Employee Engagement all year round
Ask any member of staff in any company what’s important to them and the chances are that ‘feeling valued’ will rank pretty high up the list of responses.
As a company grows bigger and needs more staff, a longer chain of command can often mean an increasing ‘distance’ between directors and employees.
Despite being a national and fast growing company, Amberon has always recognised the positive impact their staff have on the success of their business.
With monthly employee reward schemes for “employee of the month” and “driver of the month” staff are rewarded with bonus payments if they’re named as their depot’s monthly winner.
All monthly winners are then put forward to be considered for the employee of the year award, chosen by the senior management team.
This year the team were spoilt for choice and named three winners. Their stories were published in the most recent Amberon newsletter.
Here are the well deserved winners:
£500 – Mike Hipwood, Droitwich Depot
Mike was allocated to the Bromsgrove DIY SOS build. The customer contacted Amberon after the job to tell them specifically how much Mike had helped on site. He was punctual every day and went above and beyond to help ensure the job went smoothly. The customer said:
“Mike was always early to site, professional and diligent. He made me aware of any possible concerns he had regarding the safety of our volunteers in the road so that I could sort it quickly. He also was able to take control of the banksman duties for our skip exchanges & deliveries – which I really don’t have the capacity to do.”
Such positive feedback has resulted in Amberon being asked to do the TM for another DIY SOS build. Well done Mike!
£350 – Jordan McGuire, Swansea Depot
Jordan has supervised most of Swansea’s big events and the feedback has been unbelievable.
He is a real team player, never declines to do anything and always takes everything within his stride. He has also recently produced a new six-point PPE poster in his own time to replace their current poster and help highlight the importance of PPE. Well done Jordan for going above and beyond!
£250 – Marcus Squance, Truro Depot
Marcus regularly receives positive feedback from customers and is one of Amberon’s unsung heroes that quietly and professionally gets on with his work.
His dedication has also helped secure future work against competitors. One example of this was on a job for barrier services on the A30 at Temple, Amberon were standing in as a competitor had let the client down, Marcus impressed the client so much he extended our work on this contract. Well done Marcus!
Commercial Director Dan East added:
“Even though we are continually growing, we have never lost recognition of the contribution of all Amberon employees to our success and this Employee of the Year scheme is to show each and every one of our employees that there are rewards to be earned for their hard work.
“We want to keep all of our workforce engaged, so a monthly nomination system from each of our 22 depots means that Amberon is constantly engaging with our team. Each Employee of the Month gets a mention in our newsletter and receives a cash reward too. That then culminates in our Employee of the Year awards.”
“It’s really important to us that we know all employees feel valued.”
