Bartco | Pan America Games Trade Mission
The UK manufacturer of solar powered variable message signs (VMS), Bartco UK, is set to embark on a trade mission to Peru, showcasing its Olympic heritage and ability to help deliver the forthcoming Pan America Games.
The company will be part of business development organisation, British Expertise International’s, Network Mission to Peru, designed to introduce British companies with the expertise to help Lima to host the 2019 Pan America Games.
The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games are viewed positively in Peru, and companies who helped to deliver the events are well-placed to support the 2019 games.
Bartco’s VMS were used by Transport for London for the Games’ Route Network. In the largest deployment of temporary solar powered VMS, 200 Bartco VMS-As were employed, enabling athletes and officials to travel safely and efficiently between venues, while keeping the city’s traffic moving.
As well as being able to provide a VMS solution to help manage traffic during the Lima games, Bartco equipment – which also includes ANPR and CCTV – could help manage traffic around construction areas as the city prepares for the event, and perform surveillance functions throughout.
Said Bartco UK’s managing director, Pat Musgrave:
“Bartco UK has the experience to help deliver Lima’s 2019 Pan America Games. The games would represent an ideal opportunity to raise Bartco UK’s profile in Peru longer term, where the economy has grown rapidly over the last 10 years.”
The mission, which takes place in Lima at the beginning of October, includes meetings with the presidents of the PanAm Games Organising Committee and the Peruvian Olympic Committee, local contractors and planners, and site visits.
Bartco UK manufactures Bartco’s solar powered, five colour matrix VMS and Solar IP multi-use trailer platforms. It sells individual solar powered monitoring and visual information products and integrated ITS solutions, and distributes globally (with the exception of Australia and New Zealand). Bartco UK became the UK’s only manufacturer of portable, solar powered, five colour matrix VMS when it launched in 2014.
