Bartco UK | Break into Permanent ITS Market with Pioneering RCTTMS

UK manufacturer of solar powered variable message signs (VMS), Bartco UK, will launch at Seeing is Believing its first collection of permanent intelligent transport system (ITS) products, the most energy-efficient fixed Remote Controlled Temporary Traffic Management Signs (RCTTMS) in the first generation of products designed to comply with new government standards.

Once the standards are finalised, permanent RCTTMS will become a nationwide fixture on All Lanes Running (ALR) Smart Motorways, replacing the temporary products currently deployed.

Having made its name in the creation of temporary ITS, Bartco’s new range of RCTTMS features two permanent models. The 12B is the larger of the two, measuring 2220mm x 1900mm, and is designed to be installed on the verge of four-lane highways. The smaller 9(5) is supplied in pairs for use on highways of up to five lanes, with one sign deployed on the verge measuring 1585mm x 1900mm, and another in the central reservation measuring 1500mm x 1810mm.

Both signs are powered by mains or 12 volts DC with the option of battery backup, which due to the signs’ low power consumption can be fitted inside the sign itself or in an external cabinet. They feature red and white LEDs to display the legends and LEDs on the rear of the sign to display the status of power and communications.
