Bartco UK continue to support local undefeated kickboxer Karl Johnston on his journey to the top of the K1 world.
K1 is a world renowned kickboxing platform that has seen no end of elite level kickboxers battle between its ropes. In the world of combat sports, K1 is the name synonymous with the crème de la crème of kickboxing. Wirksworth native Karl has been sponsored by Bartco UK for his last 3 fights.
Already the British 78kg champion, on the 11th June Karl put his unbeaten record on the line as he challenged for the ICO 78kg Pro K1 European Title at the Barnsley Metro-Dome.
The stage was set; England’s Karl Johnston vs Pau Rubio Martinez of Spain for the European Championship.
After the opening bell, a blistering start from the Englishman saw him dispose of his Spanish foe after just 1 minute and 20 seconds of the very first round.
Post-fight, the newly crowned king of Europe said:
“Obviously I’m delighted to get the win as I trained extremely hard for the fight. Being the European Champion means a huge amount to me. Onto a world title now!”
Pat Musgrave, Director of Bartco UK told us:
“We’re really proud of Karl. To see a local lad progressing so rapidly and flying the flag for England is fantastic. His performances in the ring have been superb and now we can proudly say we’re associated with the champion of Europe.”
Karl added:
“Being a fighter is extremely tough without sponsors, so the support of Bartco UK is extremely important to me as it means I can focus on being the best fighter I can be. I’m extremely grateful, and I’d like to thank Pat and the team for their continued support as without it, things would be a lot tougher.”
