Blakedale | Back to their 'routes'
Leading traffic safety specialists Blakedale has gone back to their roots and bolstered their marker posts division with investments in new machinery and a new Sales Manager.
The multi million pound business who specialise in hiring out Impact Protection Vehicles on a self drive basis initially started out manufacturing distance marker posts for motorways when they launched 15 years ago.
The investment in new machinery will now enable them to also produce hazard delineator posts, which are used for traffic calming on motorway slip roads, rural roads or any other points of potential danger.
To head up this new operation Blakedale has recruited industry expert Paul Durham to allow them to further concentrate on this growing area of the business.
Managing Director Carmen Bowley said: “We are really pleased to have Paul on board to allow us to give more focus to our marker post division with its extended product line thanks to the new machinery.
“Already in the first three months since having Paul and the machine we have seen a 90% increase in orders.”
Paul joined the firm from fellow local manufacturer Ennis Flint, the business from whom Blakedale purchased the new machinery.
Paul said: “Blakedale is a leading light in the hire and sales of traffic management vehicles and with a broader product offering, and my experience with this market we stand in great stead to take a bigger share in this market too.”
Paul started out life as an architectural technician before progressing into sales where he was constantly dealing with specifiers and architects, much of the same audience he is now taking the marker posts to.
In addition to the motorway marker posts and hazard delineators Blakedale also produces flexible marker posts ideal for use on wind farms as well as snow markers for rural routes.
Blakedale is the leading name in the hire of self-drive Impact Protection Vehicles and self contained Mobile Welfare Units for workforce crews on site. The team of 15 office and engineering staff operate from their Mill Lane head office in Chorley.
