Bristol Council Appoints Contractors to £288m Highways and Civils Framework

Bristol City Council has appointed 27 contractors to a new £288 million framework covering highways and civil engineering projects, which will run through to 2029.
The multi-lot arrangement includes a variety of national firms—such as Eurovia, Tarmac, Breedon, Colas, Octavius, and Taylor Woodrow—alongside regional companies and smaller enterprises. The framework will support a wide scope of infrastructure projects across the South West, from resurfacing and bridge upgrades to full-scale road reconstructions.
Known as the Highways Asset Management and Civils Framework, the structure is divided into 10 distinct categories. These include packages for general civil engineering (above and below £500,000), geotechnical work, surface treatments, bridge maintenance, traffic management, and road markings.

Contracts under the framework will be awarded through a combination of direct allocation and mini-competitions, depending on the type of work and the structure of each lot.
Some of the work has been pre-priced and allocated in advance, while other packages will be subject to further competitive bidding processes among approved contractors.
