BT-HS | Company acquisition sees appointment of new Technical Director
Rapidly growing specialist vehicle provider BT-HS has achieved another milestone, not long after recently celebrating its 3rd birthday.
The milestone comes in the form of its first company acquisition, incorporating AD Vehicle Engineering Ltd and seeing former AD Vehicle Engineering Ltd Director Alex Donkin take up the role of BT-HS Technical Director.
Alex, a member of the Institute of Motor Industry (IMI) is an extensively trained vehicle engineer who completed his initial training as a vehicle engineer by completing his diploma in 2007.
Now, in his role as Technical Director at BT-HS, he will oversee the entire workshop and support operation. This will include new vehicle builds and fabrication, customer vehicle adaptations, customer vehicle repairs, training of new apprentices and members of staff, maintenance and repair programs for BT-HS ever increasing rental provision and much more.
Alex’s extensive background includes working at Brize Norton alongside the Royal Air Force after completing his diploma. Here he honed his skills on a variety of different vehicles including light and heavy commercials and specialist airfield support vehicles. During his time at Brize Norton Alex received the Ovation High Performance Award in 2014 as recognition of his work and attitude of ‘going the extra mile’ – an ethos BT-HS has become known for amongst its client base.
In 2015, Alex took up a role with a specialist vehicle manufacturer, further developing his skill set on commercial vehicles. With a focus on equipment construction and equipment installation, primarily on vehicles to be used in the Traffic Management sector.
After serving 3.5 years and seeking new challenges, Alex joined a body builder as a Production Manager. Overseeing the designing of auxiliary vehicle systems and system installations on Impact Protection Vehicles and other types of specialist Traffic Management vehicles.
Most recently Alex started his own successful vehicle engineering company; AD Vehicle Engineering Ltd, which BT-HS has now acquired.
BT-HS Managing Director Phil Glaiser spoke highly of his new fellow Director, telling us:
“Alex is well recognised for his focus on quality customer satisfaction and innovation. He will now bring his vast skillset to BT-HS whilst continuing and cementing our ethos of safety through quality.
“He is a vastly knowledgeable vehicle engineer and is well versed in the application and installation of crash cushions and the ancillary equipment we often use. He also has a wealth of mechanical knowledge and fabrication knowledge, the success he has had while operating his own company has shown this. The acquisition of AD Vehicle Engineering Ltd is a major step for BTHS and Alex is a real asset to the industry and to our company as we continue to progress, diversify and grow.”
