BT-HS | VIDEO | 1 year on with SsangYong: Get close up with the Musso 4×4
After visiting the Commercial Vehicle Show in 2019, BT-HS took the decision to incorporate the SsangYong Musso into its product range. As it turns out, BT-HS weren’t the only ones suitably impressed, with Highways England also deciding the vehicle is perfectly suited for day to day duties.
Now, 12 months on from its first delivery, BT-HS looks back on the first 12 months of the Musso as part of the fleet.
The SsangYong Musso upholds the company mantra of safety & quality and has proven to be as reliable and versatile over the past 12-months as it was in BT-HS trials.
We spoke with BT-HS Managing Director Phil Glaiser and asked: ‘How has the vehicle been received?’
Phil told us:
“Demand for the Musso has been really high, it’s certainly been a big impact in the highways sector. The fact Highways England is also utilising the vehicle is a major stamp of quality, and we’re seeing increased interest and demand as time goes on.”
A number of the UK’s leading traffic management providers have the Musso playing a key role in operations, with Barry Cummings from MAC Projects telling us:
“We use the 4×4 pick ups supplied by BT-HS as both working vehicles and daily runners. They are a spot on for what we require, they are comfortable and refined on the inside. They are a lot more like driving a SUV than a 4×4, but they have all the capability and stance of a true 4×4.
“The vehicles supplied by BT-HS really do stand out, the TM conversions they do to them are very visible and
bright. We especially like the large fully illuminated beacon bar and flasher set up.”
Pete Holt of Streetwise TM also commented:
“The vehicle is great, the interior specification is what you would expect from a more expensive 4×4 pickup. The livery and the warning light systems are exactly what you would want from a vehicle being used in our industry”
“The guys at BT-HS have really hit the mark with the additions they place on these vehicles and they are a great addition to our fleet.”
“Interestingly, traffic management – where a large percentage of our client base lies – hasn’t been the only industry with growing interest in the Musso, so it’s safe to say the vehicle is turning heads and opening new doors – which increases our confidence in the product even more so.”
Vanessa Cox, Fleet Manager for SsangYong Motors UK, said:
“Our business introduced a revised fleet strategy 18-months ago with a focus on public sector, utilities and
operational fleets – it’s an area which, with our product line-up and company structure, we can compete
successfully, offer flexibility, and really add value.
“We are delighted to work with and build relations with Bespoke Traffic and Highway Solutions after first meeting at the Commercial Vehicle Show when SsangYong announced a winning contract award to supply the Musso to Highways England as an Asset Delivery Vehicle operating on major road networks throughout the UK.
“The Musso is modified by BT-HS to be fitted with hi-visibility livery, prominent 360-degree lighting, including a roof-mounted beacon light bar, and front and rear visual flashers, all compliant to ECE R65 and Chapter 8 requirements. BT-HS also fit the Musso with a tracking system, tow bar and hardtop with interior lighting offering a ‘ready to go’ package for rental and outright purchase into the market.
“It is a huge achievement for SsangYong to be recognised for its cost-effective, versatile and reliable products, especially from such a credible organisations such as BT-HS and Highways England.”
