DELTA BLOC | Health and Safety Stand Down Day
On 22nd September 2017 Delta Bloc UK and their key supply chain partners downed tools and got together for Delta Bloc UK’s first annual Health and Safety Stand Down Day.
Effective management of health and safety is crucial to Delta Bloc’s business and they strive to ensure that health and safety arrangements are clear, constantly reviewed and implemented.
The aim of the day was to get all key contributors to the Delta Bloc operation together to give them an update on the Delta Bloc range of products and how they can significantly improve both road worker and road user safety. By giving the supply chain knowledge of how the products are tested in accordance with EN1317, accepted for use on the Highways England Network and installed in accordance with the National Highways Sector Scheme, really gave them an appreciation of how important their individual roles are in delivering major projects all across the United Kingdom.
Delta Bloc UK then presented some of the best practices being employed across the many construction sites they have been involved in over the last 12-18 months and cascaded their key learning points to the supply chain for them to take on board and implement into their own policies and procedures.

After a hearty lunch and half an hour or so’s networking, Delta Bloc provided an update on their new training material to allow their accredited installers to have an even more in-depth knowledge and competence when installing their products on site to allow them to work more safely.
Next Delta Bloc invited each supply chain member to provide an update on their role in the delivery of Delta Bloc vehicle restraint systems. How health and safety legislation and industry specific requirements dictate what can be done and how. This was a key part of the day to allow the entire supply chain to realise what constraints there could be and how they could be overcome as a team, whilst keeping health and safety at the forefront of everybody’s thinking.
Tony Walker, Managing Director of Delta Bloc UK Ltd, concluded the days events and thanked everyone for their attendance and participation adding
“As Managing Director I wish to emphasise my personal commitment to ensuring that we achieve and maintain high standards of health and safety. To reach this level of excellence, it is essential that we set ourselves high standards of health, safety and welfare. Through the implementation and continuous review of our Health and Safety Policies, we aim to minimise the risks from our operations. In return I expect all employees, contractors and other affected persons to help achieve this aim.
The day was both valuable and enjoyable and most took something away from the day to consider.
Delta Bloc UK hope this is the first of many of this type of gathering and look forward to engaging with the supply chain and customers in the coming months – as the strapline goes – here at Delta Bloc “We develop safety”
