Drivers urged to check vehicles after record number of breakdowns
If you’re one of those who’s been stuck on a motorway this Bank Holiday, the chances are you will have seen cars broken down.
According to figures obtained by ITV News Meridian, 225,000 of us break down on motorways a year, a 20% increase in the last two years.
Among the motorways named the worst by Highways England is the M25 with 28,000 breakdowns in the last year, the M4 with 12,500 and the M3 with 7000.
Drivers are being urged to carry out basic maintenance on their cars.
