Drivers warned of overnight road closures on busy stretch of Lanarkshire road
Motorists are being warned of five upcoming overnight closures of a busy stretch of road between Hamilton and the Raith Interchange.
Road users are advised that the A7071 northbound and southbound carriageways between the B7071 Hamilton/Bothwell Road and Raith roundabout will be closed from 8pm to 6am from next Monday, November 29.
The road will close each night for essential works and a signed diversion will be in place for both motorway and non-motorway traffic.
As a result, the following slip roads will be closed:
- A725 northbound off slip road to A7071/B7071
- A725 northbound off slip road to M74 and Raith roundabout
- A7071 on slip road to M74 northbound at Junction 5 Raith
A spokesman for Transport Scotland told Lanarkshire Live : “The closures are required to ensure road user and road worker safety whilst essential road stud, line marking and other maintenance works are undertaken and have been scheduled overnight to minimise disruption to traffic.
“The works will be carried out by Scottish Road Partnership (SRP) on behalf of Transport Scotland to maintain the integrity and safety of this route.
“The works have been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, North Lanarkshire Council, South Lanarkshire Council and the emergency services.
“Please note, all works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.”
Anyone with any enquiries regarding these works should contact SRP on 0800 042 0188 or [email protected].
