EM Highway Services achieves Investors in Diversity accreditation
EM Highway Services Ltd (EM) is one of the most rapidly expanding network management companies in the highways industry carrying out essential maintenance on carriageways and footways, structures, drainage, street lighting, fencing, the soft estate and traffic management systems.
EM has achieved a significant milestone with the recent award of Investors in Diversity accreditation. One of the first contractors within the highways industry to be accredited with this highly prized and prestigious benchmark standard for Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I) within the workplace, it provides EM with an all-encompassing methodology for continuously improving ED&I practices.
Two years ago EM, a wholly owned subsidiary of international infrastructure and business services group Mouchel, committed to achieving Investors in Diversity to establish, consolidate and embed excellent ED&I practices and behaviours across its organisation and is rightly proud to have achieved this goal. EM is also committed to ensuring it continues on this journey to achieve Leaders in Diversity, the next step in demonstrating EM’s ED&I characteristics. By working with the National Centre for Diversity, EM aims to develop and embed ED&I as a ‘top-down’ meets ‘bottom up’ approach.
Dave Wright, managing director, said: “EM is committed to its engaging and relevant approach to ED&I and to leaving a positive legacy for future generations. Our RESPECT initiative serves to engage with everyone affected by our activities and its aim is to bring ED&I to life; to understand that it will mean different things to different people and to embrace these differences through the principles and behaviours expected of all EM employees. We have set challenging goals but together with our clients and supply chain we will continuously develop ourselves to help set the ED&I agenda for the wider highways community and beyond.”
