Essential Uprgrade Works to Begin on Major North Somerset Road

Work to carry out essential repairs on The Portbury Hundreds near Portishead will begin on Monday 29 September.
The scheme will run for 15 nights, covering the stretch of road from the Sheepway roundabout through to the M5 junction 19 interchange roundabout.
The planned improvements include:
- Carriageway resurfacing
- Repair and replacement of damaged ironworks
- Upgraded highway drainage
- Renewal of road markings and signs
- Clearing of overgrown vegetation
The maintenance programme is being delivered to keep the road in good condition and enhance safety for drivers.
The work will take place between 9pm and 5am each night, during which the road will be closed. Traffic marshals will be on hand to support access for residents, and a clearly signed diversion route will be provided.
Cllr Hannah Young, North Somerset Council’s cabinet member for roads, said:
“These works are an investment in the future of our road network, ensuring safer journeys and a more resilient road infrastructure for North Somerset.
“Thank you for your patience while the scheme is completed.”
