Eurovia Contracting | Investing in Safety and Productivity
Eurovia Contracting continue to invest in safety and productivity with the purchase of a bespoke Mercedes Antos joint sealing mastic vehicle. This will transport the mastic used in our extensive joint sealing operations on both roads and bridges.
The new addition has extra safety features to comply with FORS (Freight Operator Recognition Scheme): steps instead of access and egress ladders, four-way cameras, safety rails and side underrun guards. The loading system is much lower for lifting the blocks into the pot, reducing the associated manual handling risks. Also, the pots are equipped with a safety chute system, which is also lower than conventional pot lorries, that eliminates the risk of material splashing back on to the operative when loading blocks into the heated material. LED lighting has been fitted providing a safer working environment at night.
The new vehicle has twin boilers, each with a 1.5 tonne capacity. This increases productivity as it allows the application of two different materials on the same site at the same time. Productivity is further increased by using the pots alternately, removing the need to wait for the pot to reheat a new batch.
In addition to increased productivity and safety features, the pots are better insulated, heating material quicker and retaining temperature. The burners to the pots are more economical requiring less fuel to heat the material, which helps to reduce the impact on the environment.
