Eurovia revolutionising Surfacing Dressing across UK Roads
Eurovia Specialist Treatments, part of Eurovia UK are strengthening their armoury, with the introduction of a new customised ‘Etnyre Chipper Spreader’ from the United States.
One of only five in the UK, this self-propelled high-performance surface dressing chipper unit has the added bonus of being the first to have the low emission 260HP Tier IV Cummins engine. This unit has had its design optimised to suit the UK requirements of Eurovia Specialist Treatments with a UK team working with Etnyre to develop the operating parameters, enhanced health, safety and environmental compliance of this model.
With the capability to spread aggregate across a carriageway of up to a width of 6.1m – a 30% increase on the maximum width, the Etnyre Chipper Spreader’s on-board advanced computer controls the rate of spread of the chippings so that material usage can be improved. The speed of the surface dressing process can also be varied, improving efficiency on roads where the machine can be fully extended.
More minor and rural roads can now be treated in “one pass”, which will minimise the number of joints in the newly applied surface dressing and limiting road traffic closures. The machine boosts efficiency and performance, while also enhancing health and safety management. Eurovia Specialist Treatments have also worked with ACMAR to develop their surface dressing spray tankers to enable a controlled bitumen emulsion spray application at over 6.2 metres thus the whole surface dressing process can be achieved in “one pass”.
Paul Goosey, Divisional Director, said “This continuing investment and development of our specialist treatment fleet keeps us at the forefront of innovation and improved functional life of our processes within the specialist treatments market as we look for new opportunities to continue improving production, delivery and safety.”
