Hats off to MVIS at Royal Ascot

Its hats off to leading intelligent transport system (ITS) solutions provider Mobile Visual Information Systems (MVIS) Ltd whose Solar 2012 CCTV cameras this summer made their Royal Ascot debut playing a crucial role in the events traffic management plan helping to prevent congestion around the world-famous event.
MVIS supplied Royal Ascots traffic management team with three trailer mounted solar powered Solar 2012 CCTV cameras. The cameras enabled the team to monitor the number of vehicles approaching the event allowing them to respond instantly to heavy traffic by activating a reroute plan. This meant that tail-backs were minimised and congestion on the highways approaching the racecourse was significantly reduced maximising visitor satisfaction and minimising the impact on non-event traffic.
Incorporating the latest technology MVIS Solar 2012 CCTV cameras deliver exceptional frame rates in poor signal areas and critically even when mobile networks are saturated. The cameras are mounted on MVIS Solar 2012 multi-use trailer platform and as such are portable easy to set up and operate. Solar powered they do not require a third party power source enhancing deployment flexibility whilst delivering a tangible cost saving on expensive power provision.
Said Richard Oddy on behalf of Royal Ascots traffic management team: MVIS Solar 2012 CCTV cameras were a significant asset to our traffic management plan helping us to prevent congestion. They worked extremely well producing sharp images at all times and were also simple to use. The pre-set position allowed rapid and accurate re-orientation of the camera view during busy periods.
Added MVIS managing director Tony Price: We were delighted to have played a part in the successful operation of the traffic management plan of such a high profile event. The Royal Ascot team understand that a good event traffic management system requires more than simply good signage and that the incorporation of a range of ITS products such as CCTV is essential.
Our Solar 2012 multi-use trailer platform is the only product on the market facilitating the mounting of multiple ITS products on a single solar powered mobile platform. As such it can accommodate not only CCTV cameras but also a wide range of our other equipment such as ANPR radar and variable message signs (VMS).
MVIS is enjoying a strong summer in the events market providing ITS solutions for a number of country shows and music festivals including the RHS Flower Show and Manchesters Parklife Weekender music festival. As well as contributing to events traffic management plans it has also supplied VMS to concert and sporting event organisers to help manage crowds within stadiums such as Wembley and Etihad.
Last year in what is believed to be the largest single deployment of solar powered VMS in the world MVIS supplied almost 200 units for the highly acclaimed Olympic Route Network enabling key participants to travel efficiently between venues and their accommodation while also keeping London and the rest of the UK moving.
