Highway Care – Wrapping up the year with a look back at 2025

In just a couple of weeks, the first quarter of the twenty first century will be complete, and 2026 will begin. December is a time for reflection and forward planning, and at Highway Care there is plenty to look back on after another busy year.
With a number of key milestones seen throughout the year, here we reflect on 2025’s journey.
Joining the Ramudden Global family
The year began with the ‘Empower’ stand down day, bringing the full team together to plan for the year ahead and share major news about the next step on the company’s journey, becoming part of Ramudden Global. Highway Care officially joined the Ramudden family in February, and, as part of that transition, welcomed new leadership talent, including Managing Director Adam Thompson and Director Matt Morphet.
This means that Highway Care finishes 2025 well positioned for growth, combining almost 50 years of heritage in the highways sector with a dynamic leadership team and the ambition and resources of its parent company.
Supporting major frameworks
It has been an exceptionally busy year for the UK barrier and operations team. As National Highways’ improvements on the M25 J10 framework draw to a close, Highway Care reflects proudly on its contribution to this major project. Throughout the scheme, the team provided operational support involving more than 50,000 metres of BG800 temporary steel barrier, helping to protect the workforce by keeping them safely separated from live traffic. Their commitment enabled mission critical elements of the programme, including several planned weekend closures, to be delivered efficiently and on schedule.
Work on the M25 is just one of many highlights from around the country. Additional deployments took place on the A465 Heads of the Valley in South Wales, the M6 Lune Gorge in Cumbria, the J9 improvements to the M3 near Winchester, and the A1 works at Water Newton in Cambridgeshire.
Highway Care looks forward to continuing to support a wide range of contractors throughout 2026 as part of several frameworks across the strategic road network.
Innovative solutions for a safer future
Alongside its barrier operations, Highway Care continued to drive and showcase innovation during 2025, including live demonstrations of the Falcon 100 Automated Cone Laying Machine at industry events. The business also returned to the LCRIG Innovation and Learning Festival, meeting with local authorities from across the UK and highlighting specialist road barrier solutions, including the Tertu TimberRail vehicle restraint system and the SMA Ermes P4 end terminal. These events provided a valuable opportunity to show how these systems are improving safety on both urban and rural roads.
Making a positive impact
Social value has remained central to Highway Care’s culture throughout 2025. This year, the company selected Brake, the road safety charity, as its charity partner, with colleagues taking part in Brake’s ‘5K in May’ challenge and a ‘wear red to work’ fundraising day. Highway Care also supported clients and supply chain partners through various initiatives, including an industry campaign providing Christmas gifts for children spending the festive season in hospital and a contribution towards new flooring for Oakleaf’s out of hours mental health drop in centre near the M25.
The company’s volunteering days continued throughout the year, giving every employee the opportunity to spend a working day supporting a charitable cause. Highway Care has also been there for the communities in which it operates, for example, sending Easter eggs to children’s wards earlier in the year. This commitment will continue into 2026.
An event filled year
Highways UK once again provided the opportunity for Highway Care to engage with customers and colleagues from across the sector, with many visitors stopping by the stand to learn more about the company’s products and services. To connect with stakeholders from the security sector, the team also attended the International Security Expo in London, showcasing hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) systems such as RB50 and The BOSS, reflecting growing demand for temporary HVM solutions.
With these events now complete for another year, attention has turned to preparations for Intertraffic 2026 in Amsterdam this March, where the team looks forward to meeting delegates from the UK, Europe and around the world.
International highlights
Highway Care’s international business continued to thrive during 2025. Approvals for the HighwayGuard steel barrier system continued to grow, with installations taking place across the USA, Australia and New Zealand. Meanwhile, the company has expanded its customer base in the Gulf states, supporting infrastructure development and raising safety standards.
Commercial Manager International, Phil Luke, dedicated significant time to visiting customers and partners across the Middle East, Australasia, Asia and North America, further strengthening global relationships. He also delivered International Road Federation webinars throughout the year, sharing his knowledge with the global highways community. Highway Care will continue to share updates on Phil’s travels throughout 2026.
Celebrating success
The year has been filled with achievements across the company and wider sector. Highway Care was shortlisted for the CIHT Health and Safety in the Workplace Award in April and achieved a RoSPA Gold Medal in November, recognising six consecutive years of RoSPA Gold health and safety standards.
Apprentice Jacob was a finalist in the Apprentice of the Year category at the Highways Awards and received a Highly Commended certificate in the DfT Special Recognition Outstanding Achievement Award in July. Director Matt Morphet received a Collaborative Champion Award from the Institute for Collaborative Working (ICW) and was recognised by the Roads Academy for his contributions to the sector.
Highway Care has also celebrated successes across the industry, including attending the 20th anniversary of Women in Transport and sponsoring the Health, Wellbeing and Inclusion category at this year’s Highways Awards.
Turning 50
In such a fast paced industry, it can be easy to overlook how much happens in just twelve months. Looking back, 2025 has been rich and varied, and Highway Care is eager to build on that momentum in 2026.
As the year draws to a close, excitement is building for what lies ahead. In 2026, Highway Care will celebrate its 50th anniversary while continuing to support clients and the wider industry with solutions that improve efficiency and safety.
The company looks forward to remaining a valued part of the supply chain across major frameworks and continuing to work closely with clients and partners in the UK and around the world.
