Highways England to host The Van Summit in September
Highways England are proud to be hosting The Van Summit at Silverstone Circuit on the 11th September 2019 from 10:30 – 15:30.
Every day, across the country, Highways England does vital work to provide all our customers with safe and reliable journeys through the way we operate, maintain and enhance some of the safest roads in the world. We believe that connecting people builds communities, creates opportunities, and helps our nation thrive. Our network enables more journeys than ever before – more safely, more efficiently, and bringing more benefit to our customers and the nation’s economy.
The Van Summit aims to bring together the people who operate and manage fleet vans. Delegates will get a unique opportunity to hear first hand from public sector bodies on the benefits of operating a compliant fleet, and the consequences of being non-compliant. Delegates will have the opportunity to share best practice with peers across different industries on how to overcome the challenges of managing and operating van fleet and drivers.
Whether you have a large number of vehicles or a single van, changes to how you manage and maintain your vehicles and drivers can create safer roads, safer drivers and improve your business. Incidents that cause disruption on our network, also cause disruption to your operations. They are often the result of poor driving decisions or poorly maintained vehicles and frequently happen during work journeys. We are working with our stakeholders to understand the causes of incidents involving vans on our roads. Our aim is to reduce the number and impact of these incidents by sharing information and good practice. Through better understanding of legislation, we encourage drivers and fleet operators to improve the safety of their vehicles and drivers.
This event marks the start of a wider plan to engage with the van community. If you’d like to find out more about the important role van operators play in improving the safety of our roads, register your interest today.
