Road repairs – Solutions for your budget

With failing roads and unsatisfactory road repair solutions an initiative was put in place in 2007 and Hitex International worked in collaboration with Local Authorities and Asset Managers to development a permanent road repair solution which was durable cost effective easy to install and stood the test of time.

Through research and development of materials and understanding of road surface deterioration Hitex International developed their product TexBand which provides a road repair and crack and joint repair solution that is fit for purpose.

Since trials began 7 years ago TexBand installations have required no remedial work and successfully prevented further deterioration of the road surface. Local authorities have been able to maximise available funding whilst keeping their road networks safe and serviceable for much longer time duration.

This system has now been adopted as an essential part of Traffic Maintenance Programmes across the UK.

Cost effective fleet management

Working closely with local authorities Somerford Equipment (part of the Hitex International Group) identified a major issue: many of their road marking vehicles fleet could only be used at certain times of the year.

Having full vehicle builds out of action causes restrictions on local authorities costly storage and the need to invest in additional vehicles to maintain necessary road maintenance throughout the year.

Somerford Equipment’s design and development of the De-Mountable Road Marking Unit was delivered to enable interoperability of the local authorities existing road vehicle fleet.

Supplied into Local Authority use throughout 2013 and 2014 the unit was developed utilising hook-mount technology to maximise the value of a single fleet vehicle and accommodate unexpected factors such as; changes in staff availability and variable weather conditions.

The De-Mountable system is designed to mitigate the economical drain of a vehicle fleet sitting idle due to seasonal or programming changes. Somerford’s Road Marking Unit works with a range of compatible body types including gritting bodies skip mounts and recycling units; enabling a prime mover to be utilised throughout the full calendar year.

Solutions for saving lives

Hitex International work closely with road safety and cycle organisations to fully understand the solutions needed for the prevention of all road traffic accidents.

In addition to our BBA/ HAPAS Approved Type 1 Anti-Skid surfacing and high performance thermoplastic Hitex International Group have developed the DotLine system; a crucial safety aid in dark wet conditions when reduced visibility puts road users at higher risk of accident or collision.
