HTM | HTM expand their fleet with new BMW R1100RT
Highway Traffic Management have invested in a new motorbike to help them improve efficiency and response times as they continue to adapt and grow to meet the needs of the TM industry.
Following last year’s opening of a new depot in Lincoln and a growing vehicle fleet to support an expanding workforce, HTM have taken a path less travelled to support the maintenance of their vehicles. The addition of a new BMW R1100RT to the traffic management business has provided the opportunity to offer faster responses and a more flexible approach when it comes to repairing vehicles out on the road.
Transport Manager Martyn Long said, “The addition of this new motorbike means that we can work smarter by working more efficiently and providing quicker response times to keep our fleet in tip top condition.”
The motorbike has been brought into the business to facilitate minor repairs that don’t impact the vehicles safety or operational function, and therefore don’t warrant taking the vehicle off the road. This also means that HTM’s mechanics can work independently, increasing the capacity to support these instances, meaning that on-site support is readily available with faster response times.
HTM’s mechanic, Tim Hemmings, came up with the idea, which was well-received by MD Greg Baldwin and Business Director Marcus Casey. “Innovation is one of our values at HTM, and we always encourage our workforce to speak up and voice their opinions, particularly when it comes to sharing ideas and solutions to continuously improve the business. It was great to see that this was something coming from the ground up, and shows how our values resonate across all areas of our workforce,” commented Greg.
This will be the first motorbike to be owned by the business, and admittedly isn’t something commonly seen within the TM industry. “We’re really pleased with the finished product and owe our thanks to both Angel Signs & Graphics for the livery and KR Accident Repairs for the colour change, helping to ensure the new addition will fit in right away,” said Martyn. “It’s great to see the finished product ready to head out on the road.”
