Kiely Bros | Glassmark: A Winning Formula Revolutionising Infrastructure with Sustainable Solutions

In a world that is increasingly embracing sustainability, companies are constantly striving to develop innovative products that minimise environmental impact. Made from 100% recycled and repurposed industrial and consumer-grade glass, Kiely Bros introduces Glassmark to the UK road network.
Delegates at the recent LCRIG Innovation Festival certainly liked what they saw in the product as they were asked to judge entries from Qualifying Innovators over the two days of the event.
All scores were then collated at the end of the festival and the LCRIG Infrastructure Innovation Board reviewed the results, before making a final decision on the winning innovations.
Kerry Winstanley, Operations and Finance Director at LCRIG said: “The Qualifying Innovator awards are linked with the LCRIG Innovation Fund, which was established with the aim of encouraging innovation and to support innovators with finding a route to market. As a CIC, it is important for us to give back and this underpins everything we do. A proportion of all sponsorship and exhibitor sales goes to the LCRIG Innovation Fund. We are very proud to be able to support the highways sector by providing funding for innovation development and facilitating trials with local authorities looking to trial new products on their networks.
“The standard of entries received was high and we would like to congratulate all of this year’s winners – we are excited to see how the innovations progress. We would also like to thank everyone that took the time to submit entries and those that scored our Qualifying Innovators at the Innovation Festival.”
Kiely Glassmark breathes new life into waste materials by transforming them into an industrial highway surfacing product. This ground-breaking solution offers a multitude of applications, revolutionising the way we think about infrastructure development.
Glassmark is paving the way for a more sustainable future by utilising glass waste that would otherwise end up in landfills. By repurposing this glass into a versatile surfacing product, Kiely Bros is reducing the strain on natural resources while mitigating the environmental impact of traditional construction materials.
One of the key benefits of Glassmark is its adaptability to various purposes. Whether it’s for hard shoulder delineation, cycle ways, parking or charging bays, pedestrian crossings, footpaths, site safety pathways, emergency exit guidance, or leisure environments, Glassmark offers a durable and eco-friendly alternative.
Hard shoulder delineation plays a crucial role in ensuring road safety, and Glassmark’s high visibility and durability make it an excellent choice for clearly defining the boundaries of the hard shoulder, enhancing safety for drivers and reducing the risk of accidents.
For cycle ways, Glassmark offers a sustainable alternative to conventional surfacing materials. Its smooth texture and skid-resistant properties provide a safe and enjoyable riding experience for cyclists. Moreover, the use of recycled glass reduces the carbon footprint associated with the manufacturing process, contributing to a greener environment.
Parking and charging bays are an essential part of the growing electric vehicle infrastructure. Glassmark not only provides a visually appealing surfacing solution for these areas but also demonstrates a commitment to sustainability.
Pedestrian crossings and footpaths are fundamental components of urban environments. Glassmark’s durability and high-contrast colours ensure clear visibility, improving safety for pedestrians. Additionally, its sustainable nature aligns with the goals of cities striving for greener and more eco-friendly infrastructure.
In construction sites, safety is paramount. Glassmark can be used to create site safety pathways, guiding workers and visitors, minimising potential hazards.
Emergency exit guidance is critical in any building or facility. Glassmark can be used to create clear and visible pathways to emergency exits, aiding in quick and efficient evacuations during critical situations.
In addition to its sustainability and versatility, Glassmark offers the added advantage of customisable colour options. Contractors can apply Glassmark in any colour to suit their specific project requirements. This feature allows for seamless integration with existing aesthetics or the creation of visually appealing designs.
The ability to choose from a wide range of colours ensures that Glassmark can be tailored to match the surrounding environment or meet specific safety regulations.
Glassmark is more than just a surfacing product; it is a symbol of sustainable development and innovation. Kiely Bros’ commitment to repurposing waste glass showcases a proactive approach to addressing environmental challenges. By utilising Glassmark in infrastructure projects, communities can create a positive impact on the planet while enjoying the benefits of a reliable and durable surfacing solution.
In a world that increasingly values sustainability and environmental responsibility, products like Glassmark lead the way toward a greener future.
