King Off The Peg – Crash Cushion Vehicles

Recent changes in the UK which require all truck bodywork to pass UK type approval tests has put King Highway Products Limited in a unique position in the supply of Impact Protection Vehicles (crash cushion trucks).
The new law represents particular challenges when seeking Type Approval but King in conjunction with its own rental division Safety Vehicle Hire and Lease Limited has developed industry standard bodywork.

The bodywork has been subjected to test and therefore allows King to offer complete crash cushion trucks on quick availability without the uncertainty that the new UK Type Approval rules present to users specifying bodies through their local body builders.
The King Group has ordered more than 20 DAF CF Euro 6 chassis which will be offered with its market leading Safestop 90 crash cushion and fitted with bodywork specified to the rental standard set by Safety Vehicle Hire and Lease. These vehicle are destined to join the fleet of SVHL commencing in January 2015 but not only will they be available for rental or contract hire but will also be available for sale giving quick availability to Traffic Management Operators.
This is also aided by King having its own VOSA test station based at its Market Harborough factory
Already since November 1st a number of operators have placed orders for King’s ‘One Stop Deal’ a hassle free approach to crash cushion acquisition with King providing its guarantee that there will be no issues at the point of VOSA inspection ‘a worry removed’ said one operator who previously had ordered his bodywork independently.
Where an operator specifies outright purchase King simply adds to its schedule with DAF to ensure that SVHL also continues to expand its own fleet. In 2014 King has ordered more than 50 truck chassis and expects numbers to be higher in 2015 and with more than 80 vehicles now in the SVHL fleet customers appreciate the mix and match approach of King making short term rental vehicles availability so operators can get to work as soon as demand arises.

.
This major industry investment puts King and SVHL in the forefront of the industry with SVHL now claiming the largest UK crash cushion hire fleet and also the youngest with the average age of vehicle now less than 3 years.
