LMS Highways | LMS Civil Solutions Officially Launched For Special Projects Requirements
LMS Highways have been thriving in the highways industry for over 30 years. Initially set up and launched as purely a line marking contractor, the company has continued to grow and diversify its offerings throughout its now extensive history.
LMS Civil Solutions is the latest string to the bow and has been launched to bring additional services to LMS customers by offering a comprehensive range of special projects expertise.
The new services include:
• Concrete bay replacements; for highways, and airport runways/Taxiways. This type of project work involves removing an entire section or sections of damaged carriageway or runway/ Taxiway and replacing it in a very short space of time, under short possessions during overnight hours (typically 10.30pm – 5am).
• Structural repairs; e.g. bridge works. This type of work can be anything from removing complete sections of deck, soffit repairs, deck surface preparation – including general concrete repairs prior to waterproofing and concrete repairs to Abutments.
• Parapet replacement; including strengthening the concrete base to allow for new regulation stronger safety fences.
• Formwork, traditional shuttering and reinforcement of concrete structures; e.g. water treatment plant secondary clarifiers. When these require refurbishment or strengthening, LMS cast the base and walls and install bent-to-shape rebar and then fill in with concrete.
For LMS this is an exciting, brand new part of the business. That being said, don’t be fooled into thinking there’s any degree of substandard preparation or knowledge.
“When the programme is particularly challenging, we feel a lot of the competition tends to take a step back. Not us- so we’re looking forward to establishing LMS Civil Solutions as a credible special projects supplier.”
Paul Winter, LMS Managing Director
Recruited to head up this division with his extensive knowhow and expertise is Paul Burton – a veteran of the game when it comes to civils. Paul has over 30 years’ experience of civil engineering projects and is the ideal man to lead from the front.
As Paul himself told us, “There isn’t much he hasn’t seen in his time.”
LMS are combining Paul’s experience with their already established infrastructure and excellent reputation for competence and service in joint repair services.
The launch of LMS Civil Solutions strengthens an already strong portfolio of highway repair services and represents a natural advance forward for the company. Growth is strong, and also is fuelled by a constant ambition to become better and better.

We asked Paul Winter, Managing Director of LMS how he feels their civils division will stand out from the rest:
“When the programme is particularly challenging, we feel a lot of the competition tends to take a step back. Not us – we differ in that we know Paul loves a challenge- and overcoming difficulties to deliver an on-time and on-budget solution for the customer is what gives him his job satisfaction.”
So Paul, what are the aims for LMS civils in 2016?
“Well, we already have a number of initial projects lined up that will commence shortly. So we’re looking forward to establishing LMS Civil Solutions as a credible special projects supplier.”
