MAC Surfacing continues to keep that ‘family business’ feel

A family business continuing to uphold its family values, MAC Surfacing know it takes a complete workforce all pulling together to make a successful company work. Here, we meet that team.

MAC Surfacing provides the complete hire-based surfacing solution, with a services portfolio that includes planer hire, paver hire, labour supply, plant haulage and plant maintenance. The company also houses its own repairs workshop and training centre.

With the demands to service every corner of the UK, it takes a dedicated client-focused team to deliver.

So, without any further wait, lets meet some key figures in the MAC Surfacing team:

Mike Davies

Mike Davies – Planing Co-Ordinator

Mike heads up the planing division and has recently joined MAC PLANE but is settling in quickly. Mike’s responsibilities include being the friendly face for planing clients, handling enquiries, dealing with queries, forecasting planing programme, liaising with planing operatives and dealing with day to day company requirements.

Mike told us: “With more than 15 machines, and 32 staff, MAC PLANE itself has the infrastructure to be its own business. Leading the team and continuously looking to grow the division is a challenge I really enjoy, and as more and more people are starting to discover what MAC PLANE can provide, I look forward to seeing further growth.”

Paula Hopkins

Paula Hopkins – Hire Co-Ordinator

Paula Hopkins is a long-serving member of the MAC Surfacing team.

After starting with the company in 2014 Paula’s capabilities and manner with clients were quickly spotted, and she made the transition internally to Hire Co-Ordinator

Initially, Paula joined the company as accounts administrator but she now brings her company know-how to the role of hire co-ordinator. Usually the voice heard at the end of the MAC Surfacing hotline, Paula is the first port of call.

Stewart Jones

Stewart Jones – Labour Manager

Stewart has 13 years under his belt at MAC Surfacing and is responsible for leading the labour supply division.

MAC’s labour division is well established. The company recruits highly skilled employees and trains them further to the highest industry standards.

As a result, MAC Surfacing can absolutely assure any potential client that they are receiving top quality machinery, operated by fully qualified staff.

Tony Aspbury

Tony Aspbury – Workshop Manager

The in-house workshop and maintenance team has been in place at MAC Surfacing since early 2005.

The team is headed up by Tony, a vital cog in keeping all of MAC Surfacing’s machines in the highest working order. An expert in machine maintenance, Tony makes sure MAC Surfacing always has the tools, or in this case – machines and plant – in full working order and ready for the job.

With more than 12 years of experience, Tony is a well-versed hand in machine maintenance – so MAC Surfacing customers are in great hands.

Paul Gutteridge

Paul Gutteridge – Transport Co-Ordinator

Paul’s role is ultimately to keep plant moving from A to B, ensuring that the companies 70+ items of plant reach the right location, on time, every time. Paul has recently started supporting the planing division with external moves and sub-contractors to suit job requirements.

Stephen Evans

Stephen Evans – Operations Manager

Stephen oversees MAC Surfacing’s various divisions and works closely with Marc Copson, company MD when it comes to shaping the company’s future.

Stephen’s responsibilities include customer liaison for major hire contracts, motivating and shaping the operational team, customer service and process management.
