Meon | Launching New BBA HAPAS Approved Overbanding System
Recently, it was revealed that there were more pothole-related claims reported during the first four months of 2018 alone than for the whole of 2017.
With the noticeable rise in potholes making an impact on the UK’s roads this year, more efforts are being taken to prevent the formation of one before it can even happen.
Many potholes begin with a simple crack or joints of utility repairs in the road, which is then further damaged by water ingress, freeze/thaw and traffic, resulting in a hole forming in the road’s surface. Once the hole has formed, it poses huge risks to road users especially bikes, which results increased claims and money lost.
Due to this, overbanding tape has quickly become a necessity as a prevention for premature surface failure from joints/cracks. Meon’s range of Magma products includes Thermaband Plus, it’s great formulation retains flexibility even in cooler conditions, and anti-skid treatment which is embedded within the product.
Recent development has led Thermaband R172 to receive a HAPAS approval rating after thorough inspection from the British Board of Agrément. BBA confirmed the approval in May 2018, which is then re-evaluated every three years.
The approval validates ThermaBand R172’s ability to provide a high-quality result with a minimum life expectancy of five years – meaning it will remain strong and durable through heavy traffic and adverse weather. This is ensured through technical investigations and regular production inspection.
As the UK recovers from a harsh winter, the focus has shifted to ‘pothole prevention’, and BBA certified products meeting all top-tier regulations, HAPAS approved systems are paving the way to a better road network within Britain. Because Roads Matter
