MVMS | Journey time and queue warning through Roadworks

MVMS believe it is vital to make roadworks clearer and simpler for people to drive through, making the most efficient use of limited road space and doing so safely.
Mobile Variable Message Signs Ltd. (MVMS) are currently providing accurate ‘real-time’ journey information along major roadwork schemes. MVMS are providing improved journey time reliability, reduced congestion, greater network efficiency and improved driver information. Our Mobile temporary Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) are providing live updates to motorists and the managing contractors on major roads projects.
Using a series of our mobile solar traffic sensors, Bluetooth sensors, mobile solar CCTV, mobile variable message signs and JamLogic real time traffic management software, MVMS are providing journey information to the motoring public through key road work zones.
Mobile temporary Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) are a greener, safer, more efficient approach to traffic management at roadworks. MVMS understand that journey time reliability, queue warning and alternative route information at roadworks is key to effectively utilising limited road space, improving congestion and delays. By treating the motorist as a customer and providing enhanced timely journey information via our variable message signs both ahead of and within the roadworks, we encourage them to drive more efficiently, therefore reducing carbon emissions and the resulting environmental impact as well. MVMS believe the use of advanced real-time mobile ITS technology reduces the impact of roadworks on both network performance and the environment by better utilisation of road space. More efficient roadworks can result in a reduction in the environmental impact on the project by influencing driver behaviour, smoothing traffic flow and ensuring works are completed in a timely fashion.
In addition to Journey time, we are also providing accurate and reliable advance queue warning, enabling motorists to reduce speed steadily to prevent potentially fatal rear end collisions as traffic slows through works due to reduced road capacity or the movement of heavy work’s traffic. The importance of advance queue warning to motorists cannot be ignored as any rear end collision through works can impact not just motorist safety but the safety of the workers involved in road projects.
As works progress, mobile solar traffic sensors can be moved to different locations to reflect the changing road layout. Sensors then transmit speed and volume data in ‘real time’ to create algorithms which immediately update mobile solar variable message signs, informing motorists of journey time, alternate routes and automated queue warning or incident information.
All the MVMS traffic sensors, CCTV and variable message signage are environmentally friendly. They are mobile and solar powered with zero emissions or noise pollution. By providing motorists with better information about why the roadworks are there, making temporary signage clearer, drivers are less likely to make mistakes, resulting in a safer, greener environment for all.
