MVMS | Supplying VMS for the European Games

MVMS provided 5 ‘Olympic’ variable message signs to the Traffic Control Centre in Baku, Azerbaijan, as part of their traffic management plan for the Baku European Games.
“I would like to thank MVMS very much for their contribution to the implementation of the transport plan of the 1st European Games – Baku 2015. Your prompt response and support to our queries regarding the signage of the Games’ Road Network have been a significant factor for the overall success of the Games.”
Minas Vavakos, Transport Engineer, Baku.
On the 12th June, the first European Games commenced in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku. BBC sport reported that ‘Great Britain will be sending the largest overseas contingent since the 2008 Beijing Olympics and with just over a year to go until the Rio Olympics, the event could have a say in how well Team GB does in Brazil’. The Baku Games will run from 12 – 28 June.

The European Games were launched in Rome by the European Olympic Committee and Baku became the first host city with 50 European countries competing. There are 20 different sports at the event, encompassing everything from Archery to Wrestling.

Mobile Variable Message Signs Ltd supplied 5 solar mobile ‘Olympic’ VMS to the Traffic Control Centre in Baku for use in crowd and traffic control during the event. The Olympic VMS was originally designed specially for the London 2012 Olympics as its compact nature allows it to be easily sited and deployed in city centres where space is often limited.
