Nissen | TRAFFEX 2023: From pioneer to market leader

Nissen is one of the leading suppliers of solutions for mobile road safety in the world, with the foundations of the company laid over 100 years ago. In 1914 the company’s founder Adolf Nissen began to develop ignition systems for cars and registered patents for this in several countries. In the middle of the 1950s, Nissen Elektrobau GmbH entered the traffic management industry.
Nissen not only drove the development of innovative technologies like LED in road safety but also played a significant role in the unification of road safety regulations. Thus its name stands like no other for pioneering solutions and comprehensive know-how in traffic management around the world.
Using innovative solutions for traffic management products, Nissen provides high quality products: from warning lamps & safety barriers through to LED variable message signs and software for mobile traffic systems.
Traffex 2023
Nissen looks forward to welcoming visitors to stand D55 at Traffex this year where it will share some of its latest developments for TM applications.
One such application is the Nissen LZA SOLAR.
Nissen is launching the LZA SOLAR portable traffic and pedestrian light system – first of its kind as it is nearly autonomous all year round.
First calculations on the use of the SOLAR traffic lights on a 2-Way project for one of our customers produce insanely good stats! All verified and double checked… savings-based vs a weekly battery change using a UK’s well known portable traffic light supplier.
In brief, in the first 12 weeks in the beginning of 2023 produced the following key results:
- 611kg of Co2 saved
- £48.00 on electricity charging batteries back at our depot saved
- 912 Miles saved on Company vehicles carrying out battery changes Prediction for the Duration of the Project (1 Year)
- 2,647.84kg of Co2 saved
- £208.00 on electricity charging batteries back at our depot saved
- 3,952 Miles saved on Company vehicles carrying out battery changes
Nissen is looking forward to giving its visitors detailed insight on this development, which will be a game changer for the industry.

It doesn’t end there…
In addition to the LZA SOLAR, Nissen will also launch other new products to the market. These products include a new van mountable Enhanced Motorway Carriage Closure (EMCC) system.
Nissen continues to carry out its R&D to launch safer solutions for roadworkers as well as road users, and the EMCC system will be yet another example of that focus coming to reality for the benefit of all.
Visit stand D55 at the NEC Birmingham, June 6-8 to find out more from the Nissen road safety experts.
