QMS | HyperGrip™ – 1 year on

QMS HyperGrip™ was certificated as a BBA HAPAS Type 1 High Friction Surface Treatment on 25th June 2015 following many years of trials and testing.
During the twelve months since achieving the certification, we have installed 60,460m2 throughout the South and West of the United Kingdom across 311 separate locations.
HyperGrip™ can be installed onto new bituminous surfaces after as little as 12 hours, reducing the risk of sites being re-surfaced and left without High Friction Surface Treatment for extended periods. This reduction in application and cure-time, maximises operational time and minimises disruption to the road user.
Since achieving the certification last year, the development of the system has continued to progress through the enhanced delivery of our new purpose built delivery unit which has the following unique features:
- Quiet Working– The equipment is powered directly from the truck engine which itself is the latest Euro 6 engine technology, the quietest of all available running engines. With no auxiliary engine powering the equipment, the result is a virtually silent operation.
- Increased Capacity– The resin holding tanks on the truck carry enough resin to complete 1,000m2 without the need to refill the tanks. The combination of the truck and the sweeper combined can carry 13.75 tonnes of aggregate allowing continuous delivery of QMS HyperGrip™ without the need to sweep part way through the shift.
- Continuous Agitation– The resin within the holding tanks on the truck is continuously mixed ensuring complete consistency of the resin at the point of delivery.
- Calibrated Computerised Delivery Valve– The resin is delivered to the mixing vessel through a calibrated delivery valve controlled by the on-board computer. This calculates the volume of resin used on the site which can be transferred electronically to the office and client.
- Timed Mixing– As part of the on-board computer, each mix is timed to ensure the correct and consistent mixing throughout the delivery of the works is completed.
- Recycling– When cured, the aggregate is swept, sieved where required and recycled for use on the next project, minimising wastage and unnecessary landfill disposal.
- Safety– The Renault Truck is the latest Euro 6 model fitted with lane assist and distance recognition with automatic braking.

QMS Director Greg Clark told us:
“We were really proud twelve months ago to have HyperGrip certified, and that pride has grown over the last year as we’ve seen the impact it has had throughout the South and West of England.
Moving into year two, we’re looking to install even more by this time in 2017, and things are already looking positive for us to achieve that goal.”
Additionally, for the further enhancement of the delivery of QMS HyperGrip, QMS are delighted to announce that they shall be taking delivery of two brand new Johnston VT651 Road Sweepers. But these sweepers come with a point of difference.
Greg continued:
“The new trucks are specifically designed to work with the QMS HyperGrip installation teams. Each truck will be able to carry 6.5 Tonnes of clean aggregate ready for delivery through the specifically designed output valves. In place of the gully sucker, each truck is equipped with a loading hatch, enabling the quick and easy filling of the aggregate into the body of the truck.
“The trucks are both Euro 6 and are the quietest road sweepers currently available on the market – Essential when working within urban areas during night working activities. Filled with a multitude of exciting features, the new trucks will record the weight of material being carried and provide a full-width sweep and suction on site.”
