R&C Williams – R&C Starts 2026 With Clear Goals, Strong Culture and Health Focus

R&C Williams has entered 2026 with clarity, confidence, and a clear message to the industry. This is a business that continues to strengthen its position as a leading civil engineering and highways contractor through consistent delivery, investment in people, and a practical approach to improvement across safety, quality, and operations.
The company’s recent Welcome Back Morning brought the entire workforce together at its depot to reflect on the year just gone and set expectations for the year ahead. Far from a routine start-of-year briefing, the session demonstrated how R&C Williams aligns leadership, operations, and workforce wellbeing to support long-term performance.
Leadership and direction
Business Director Sam Drew opened the session by welcoming teams back and outlining the wider business position. He spoke about how the company has grown steadily through reputation, repeat work, and trusted client relationships. A key highlight was the launch of new office facilities, introduced to support growth, improve collaboration, and provide a better working environment for staff as the business continues to expand.
Managing Director Duncan Braybrooke followed with a detailed overview of contract performance in 2025 and what lies ahead in 2026. Last year saw R&C Williams deliver a broad range of highways and civil engineering works, balancing long-term frameworks with responsive call-out work.
Duncan highlighted strong delivery across live networks, sustained client confidence, and consistent standards across sites.
Looking ahead, he outlined how the business is positioned for further contract wins in 2026, supported by experienced teams, robust systems, and a track record of dependable delivery. The message was clear. Growth will be controlled, standards will not slip, and people remain central to success.
Safety, quality, and compliance
Health and Safety Manager Arron Roberts set out the company’s safety priorities for the year ahead. Building on a solid safety record in 2025, Arron introduced refreshed targets focused on engagement, reporting, and continuous improvement. These included more structured site briefings, clearer feedback loops, and further investment in training.
Compliance Manager Alex Colesby spoke about quality, environmental performance, and depot standards. He reflected on improvements made over the past year, including tighter quality controls, improved environmental processes, and better organisation across operational bases. Alex reinforced how quality and environmental compliance directly influence client trust and repeat work, particularly in a sector where scrutiny continues to increase.
Fleet investment and electric vehicles
Transport Manager Richard Toy provided an update on transport and fleet operations, highlighting a significant shift over the past two years. R&C Williams has progressively introduced electric vehicles into its fleet, supporting both environmental goals and operational efficiency.
Richard explained how electric vans have been integrated where operationally suitable, particularly for depot-based and shorter-range roles. This has reduced fuel costs, lowered emissions, and provided valuable real-world data on how electric vehicles perform in a highways and civil engineering environment. Alongside this, the company has continued to renew diesel fleet assets where electric alternatives are not yet viable, ensuring reliability and compliance across all operations.
Driver training, vehicle condition, and daily checks remain a strong focus, with fleet investment closely linked to safety and operational readiness.
Wellbeing beyond compliance
Chairman Nigel Drew closed the formal session by thanking employees for their efforts throughout 2025 and reinforcing the company’s values around teamwork, respect, and professionalism. His remarks reflected a business that understands long-term success comes from looking after people, not just contracts.
That message was reinforced through practical action. Following the presentations, staff stayed on site for tea, coffee, and bacon rolls, allowing time for informal discussion before returning to work.
R&C Williams also offered employees a free PSA finger-prick test for prostate health. Providing access to early health checks at work removes barriers and encourages participation. It is a simple initiative, but one that reflects a broader commitment to wellbeing that goes beyond minimum requirements.
A strong foundation for 2026
The past year saw R&C Williams deliver consistently across highways maintenance, civil engineering works, and responsive services. Investment in people, fleet, and systems has strengthened the business from the inside out. The Welcome Back Morning showed a company that communicates clearly, plans carefully, and acts with intent.
As 2026 progresses, R&C Williams enters the year with a clear strategy, an engaged workforce, and leadership that understands both the challenges and responsibilities of operating in the highways sector. For clients, partners, and the wider industry, it is a reminder that sustained performance is built through consistency, not shortcuts.
