R&C | Meet the Team: Contracts Coordinator Dale Kovacs

Next up in the R&C Meet the Team series is Dale Kovacs.
Dale is the Contracts Coordinator at R&C, assisting Contracts Managers in the day-to-day running of jobs in planning plant, labour and materials, and also runs the drainage/gully cleansing side of the business in both Sandwell and Birmingham.
We spoke to Dale about life at R&C, as well as finding a little bit more about the man himself.
HI.com (HI): Describe your job in three words.
Dale (DK): “I would say challenging, exciting & rewarding.”
HI: Describe your role at R&C Willams?
DK: “I help out our contract managers on a day-to-day basis on their planning and running of our projects. I coordinate labour, plant and materials.”
HI: What’s the coolest thing you’re working on right now?
DK: “Working alongside (Contracts Manager) Matt Cain planning a job that requires the use of electric excavators and electric dumpers. 2000 tonnes of spoil has to be removed off a underground water tank. This will be an exciting & challenging job due to the size of the tank and the restrictions put in place by the client.”
HI: What are the values that drive you?
DK: “Self-motivation, honesty & flexibility.”
HI: What’s the best thing about being part of the R&C Team?
DK: “For me it’s feeling a genuinely valued part of our team and not just a number.”
HI: Worst thing about being part of the R&C Team?
DK: “I’m very fortunate with work itself – so I’ll say the daily commute!”
HI: What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
DK: “Walking, cycling and clay pigeon shooting are all things I like to do away from work.”
HI: Who inspires you? and why?
DK: “I’d have to say (R&C Chairman) Nigel Drew, he’s a very knowledgeable and inspirational person both in and out of work.”
HI: What did you want to grow up to be when you were a kid?
DK: “Anything to do with driving to be honest – I just loved it.”
HI: Last book you read?
DK: “The World According to Clarkson is the last thing I read.”
HI: What’s the website you visit the most?
DK: “Bayliner.com is the one for me. I have a big interest in boats so I’m always having a browse.”
HI: Tell us something we don’t know…
DK: “I started driving cars at the age of 10 and then by the age of 12 I was racing Mini stock cars.”
HI: What is something that people in your industry/niche have to deal with that you want to fix?
DK: “The abuse workers face on a daily basis for ultimately just doing their job. All abuse is out of order but some of the things they face is absolutely terrible.”
