R&C Williams | Going greener with the help of local community
As sustainability becomes ever more prevalent in the way companies go about their operations, R&C Williams has an ongoing commitment to going greener sitting high on its priority list.
The latest environmentally focused step from R & C comes in the form of the company’s first fully electric vehicle.
R&C both understands the need and has the passion to reduce their carbon footprint. The electric vehicle is just one of a significant number of changes that have either been implemented or are due to be made.
R&C is proud to announce that they have purchased the fully electric Renault Kangoo ZE which provides zero emissions, reduced road noise, and a significant overall reduction in carbon footprint on the environmental mission.
To celebrate committing to a sustainable future, as well as to spread the ‘Go Greener’ ethos and educate locally, R&C Williams has also approached a local school and asked the children to design a ‘save the planet’ logo for the bonnet.
A winner from Boldmere Junior School will be picked, and prizes will be received for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place.
The winning entry will then be printed onto the bonnet of the vehicle, with the name of the school and the child also printed alongside it.
In the coming year, R&C Williams will be adding further electric vehicles to the fleet. Fleet Manger Richard Toy told us:
“We won’t be stopping at one vehicle – this isn’t a token gesture from us so we can say we’re ‘sustainable’.
“The company will have more hybrid and fully electric vehicles coming across the whole fleet. This is something I’m very passionate about and my past experience working with electric vehicles enables me to educate and advise our employees on how to maximise their benefits, and I’m also able to provide a first use demonstration.”
Director Sam Drew added:
“We are very excited about our first EV vehicle, and with more in the pipeline, the future for R&C is certainly a greener one.
“With the industry we operate in, we know it isn’t always possible at the moment to be completely emission- free. However, we can take every option available to us and as newer, greener and more environmentally friendly solutions develop, we can make the commitment to implement everything we can in order to be ever increasingly sustainable.”
