R&C Williams | Meet the Team : This is Curtis Farrand

Let us introduce Curtis Farrand, Yard and Plant Supervisor at R&C Williams. Curtis started out his career as an apprentice tool and plant fitter. Since completing his NVQ’s he joined R&C and successfully integrated an internal tool hire into their business operations.
We asked Curtis some questions, here is an insight into him:-
Describe your job in three words?
CF: “Busy, challenging and fun”
HI: What do you do at R&C Willams?
CF: “Yard and Plant supervisor, Looking after the yard waste transfer station and running an internal tool and plant hire shop”
HI: What’s the coolest thing you’re working on right now?
CF: “As we continue to invest in new tools and plant we’re outgrowing the stores/hire shop so we’re making the workshop a bit bigger and newer”
HI: What are the values that drive you?
CF: “I like to save our company money, so always looking into the most cost effective way of doing things seeing whether we should hire the tool and plant equipment or buy it”
HI: Best thing about being part of the R&C Team?
CF: “We all get on as a team in and out of work”
HI: Worst thing about being part of the R&C Team?
CF: “Can’t really think of anything”
HI: What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
CF: “Working with nice cars and watching F1”
HI: Who inspires you? and why
CF: “My old boss who gave me the opportunity to start working for him at age of 16 then drove me to learn different skills in hire industry”
HI: Who would you most like to swap places with for the day?
CF: “An F1 driver would love to drive the car and see what the lifestyle is like ”
HI: What did you want to grow up to be when you were a kid?
CF: “A digger driver but as I got older found it would be quite boring”
HI: Last book you read?
CF: “Top gear magazine”
HI: Website you visit the most?
CF: “Autotrader always looking for cars”
HI: Tell us something we don’t know?
CF: “I’ve recently just got married”
HI: What is something [people in your industry/niche] have to deal with that you want to fix?
CF: “Wish workers would look after tools and look after stuff like if it was their own”
