Roadworks truck death: Man crushed on A21 in Kent
A man has been crushed to death by a truck during roadworks in Kent. The 21-year-old from Tonbridge was working overnight on the A21 between Sevenoaks and Hildenborough.
Just before midnight, the Highways Agency worker was crushed by what was described as a maintenance truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A joint investigation has been launched by Kent Police and the Health and Safety Executive.
A spokesman for the Highways Agency said: “Our deepest sympathies are with this person’s family, friends and colleagues at this time.”
The southbound carriageway of the A21 remained shut until about 09:15 GMT on Friday, leading to major traffic problems on the A21, M25 and A25. The A21 Sevenoaks bypass is currently closed overnight between Morleys Road and the A25 turn off until March while work to replace a safety barrier is carried out.
HighwaysIndustry.Com would like to echo the sentiments of the Highways Agency. Our deepest sympathies go out to the family, friends and colleagues of the individual involved.
