SHIMPAC® Systems | New SHIMPAC® Products – Flexibility, Adaptability, Innovation, Evolving with latest SROH updates

SHIMPAC® Systems is a leading provider of innovative and long life ironwork seating and levelling products. The company is dedicated to creating durable systems that meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and sustainability.
At the beginning of 2023, SHIMPAC® Systems launched its re-engineered and expanded product ranges to mirror exact changes in ironwork driven by SROH, legislation and the evolving needs of the industry.
The new products are designed to be more responsive and adaptive than ever before, allowing customers to stay ahead of the curve and meet the ever-changing demands of the market. The new products are SROH compliant, National Highways approved and designed to extend installation life, reduce work time and cut installation cost.
SHIMPAC® Systems understands the importance of compliance, and its new products are designed to meet and exceed the latest industry standards.
SHIMPAC® Systems has introduced three new ranges and sizes for different specific needs and applications.
Born from the potential for change in ironwork size, resulting in the conceivable increased flange width of 100mm to 120mm where ironwork frame thickness is now legally reduced, the new ROADSHIMS® meet all requirements and standards under UK and European law.
Additionally, legislation around HGV weight changed in 2022. With foresight, it’s clear to see the potential impact this has on road surfacing and the ironwork within it.
Long term thinking
As a result, the time is now to take a long-term approach and upgrade ironwork before something goes wrong. Additionally, when failings happen – an inevitability with the new HGV laws – contractors and local authorities should not simply just replace ironwork, but look further beneath the surface and upgrade to better overall ironwork infrastructure whilst the opportunity is there to do so.
In addition to being responsive and adaptive, the new product range is also designed to be highly efficient and cost-effective. SHIMPAC® has used the latest technology and materials to create systems that are fast on installation, then stand the test of time – reducing long-term cost and improving safety for road users.
The products don’t only provide long-term benefits, however.
Mortar and cement repairs are more expensive in the short term, and also have operatives potentially in harm’s way with on-site mixing and installing. The repaired defect then takes up to 24 hours to properly harden. Yet roads need to be open.
The SHIMPAC® product is lower cost, sees operatives in and out within an hour, dramatically reducing roadworker exposure to danger, as well as needing no ‘set’ time in the same way excessive thicknesses of cement and mortar do.
Overall, SHIMPAC® Systems is committed to providing customers with the best possible solutions. With their new product range, they are showing how they respond quickly to changes in legislation and the market.
Barry Andrews, SHMPAC® Systems Technical Lead told us:
“We pride ourselves on being at the forefront of the industry when it comes to adaptability, durability and sustainability.
“Our products, and indeed our latest product ranges reflect this. Our new products have been launched in collaboration with, but not exclusively to Keyline Civils, with all Keyline stockists having access to the new SHIMPAC® product lines.
“As our industry evolves, as legislation changes, and as our roads stand to see heavier loads and more damage, we look forward to providing the solutions to these challenges.”
