Signal TM | Super HQ, major collaborations and massive investment all make 2019 the best year yet
The 6th of January 2020 was a significant day for Kidderminster based Signal Traffic Management Ltd as the company proudly celebrated its 8th birthday.
An established major provider of traffic management across the UK, Signal deliver an unrivalled service to some of the largest utility companies & contractors nationwide. The Knowledgeable leadership team possess over 100+ years of industry experience to add to the companies repertoire.
Signal TM has grown significantly throughout its existence, and that growth can only be attributed to Signals continued commitment to the highest standards of safety, quality & service.
As the company goes into its 9th year of trading, the family values the company was founded upon, remains, as Managing Directors, Matthew and Sarah Eaton lead the company into 2020.
Reflecting on the last 12 months with us, Matthew and Sarah discuss some of Signal’s major achievements throughout 2019.
Signal Super HQ is purchased!
Sarah began by telling us about a ground breaking event for the business:
“In March we secured the new building and land, it took 5 months in total to completely renovate and prepare for our big move into our amazing Super HQ which took place in September 2019.
“Signal’s Head Quarters based in Worcestershire were acquired to expand our capabilities and capacity to meet fierce demand for our services.
“This, whilst ensuring that we sustain the exceptional, unrivalled service that we provide. Since opening the doors in January 2012, Signal have experienced significant progress and growth year on year, and the ability and necessity to secure ownership of our own premises is a great showcase of this.”
Key collaboration: Signal & SRL
Additionally, the brand has grown significantly over the last 12 months, and Signal has become part of the introduction of SRL’s first-ever branded traffic signals – taking the very first delivery of 100 portable pink traffic lights in August 2019.
£50K investment for safety and security
Throughout 2019, a £50,000 investment was made into updating their IT equipment systems.
“This has helped ensure cyber security and efficiency.” Said Matthew Eaton.
“We have been accredited with Cyber essentials for the second year running, we continually keep our systems up to date ensuring all of our and our client’s data is protected. We are also fully insured against cyber-attacks. Our safety ethos is all-encompassing and doesn’t end with our operatives on the ground.”
Permanent workforce increases 20% on Jan 2019
Matthew also told us about an increase in the Signal workforce over the last 12 months:
“We have increased our permanently employed workforce to 60+ employees. We are also currently recruiting for additional staff members to join our team.
“We have significantly grown our professional services departments in particular, CAD, SHEQ, HR, and a 12AB High- speed division, hiring top talent to ensure that we are ahead of the game when it comes to capability and skillset. This isn’t a small investment, but it’s a necessary one to make sure Signal is right where we need to be in order to lead the way.”
Quality as well as quantity
These major company milestones are all impressive indicators of growth, but they are supported by some independently verified stamps of excellence.
After becoming the first traffic management company accredited by Alcumus with ISO45001, Signal also passed first-year audits for NHSS 12AB, NHSS 12D, ISO45001, ISO14001, and ISO9001 successfully maintaining these accreditations – yet again achieving no recommendations.
In addition, the company is also accredited with Achilles UVDB, and have renewed their 8th CHAS including recently upgraded their CHAS to premium plus standard.
The team ethos has seen a number of charity and community initiatives from the Signal team
Sarah told us:
“We’re extremely proud of our accreditations as our team works incredibly hard to deliver our services and maintaining our exemplary reputation to the highest standard.
“We greatly value the efforts of our team, we have a family culture here at Signal and every individual has the opportunity to have a direct influence on the company- so much so that last year, we appointed an employee representative to encourage employee engagement and voice throughout the business.
“The family culture we have here has expanded into our community approach too, as we have raised thousands for charity in 2019 with various charitable and community events as well as engaging with local schools by conducting educational workshops at Signal HQ on Road Safety with the children.”
It’s clear to see that 2019 was a landmark year for Signal Traffic Management, and excitement for 2020 is certainly building. It’s a case of ‘watch this space’ to see what this rapidly rising company has in store for the next 12 months.
If 2019 gives an indication of what’s in store, the road ahead looks extremely bright, or some may say extremely pink.
