Blakedale | Specialist parts store launches as Blakedale breaks new ground
Blakedale is based in the Northwest of England and services the whole of Great Britain and Ireland. Blakedale has been providing motorway maintenance products and services for almost 40 years with a team of personable, approachable and experienced staff for each key area of the business.
The largest privately-owned operation of its type in the UK, Blakedale has now launched its brand-new parts store and with it, becomes the first IPV/Traffic Management vehicle manufacturer to do so.
The parts store, found at www.blakedaleparts.co.uk is the brainchild of Stock Controller Craig Sammon, with Blakedale and indeed, Craig himself becoming a ‘go-to’ for parts requests and information from both Blakedale customers and other third parties.
Craig told us:
“It wasn’t long after joining the team at Blakedale that it became obvious this was the next direction for the parts department to take. We were selling parts if approached on an ad-hoc basis, but the demand was ever-increasing and the step was a logical one.
“Observing customer requirements played an important part – as well as my own purchasing experience. Placing online orders with suppliers allowed me to keep track of my purchase history, have instant access to pricing & product details while reducing the time it took to place orders, something we can now offer our customers.
“We now provide a central hub that fills a gap in the market for the niche items required for such specialist vehicles.”
Craig’s background has seen over a decade of automotive/commercial vehicle parts experience.
“Previously I was an Area Sales Representative and supplied Blakedale with a wide range of products.” Craig continued.
“I worked very closely with them over a number of years on new and ongoing projects, which gave me a clear understanding of their needs and expected service levels. When I then took on the role here, I was well versed in the business whilst never having worked a day here yet.”
Blakedale now adds another string to its bow and the store can be utilised by customers and suppliers alike. MD Carmen Bowley added:
“We always knew that when we moved to our new premises, we were opening up opportunities for expansion. As things have transpired, Craig’s observations combined with the company’s entrepreneurial spirit have seen the parts store become a first major expansion.
“We knew through Craig’s previous role and relationship with Blakedale that we were hiring a high calibre person to develop this side of the business, and his pivotal role in the launch of the online parts store is testament to that.”
“As we continue to build this division, sustainability and sustainable practice is something we’re taking very seriously.” Carmen continued.
“We are actively working with our suppliers to minimise packaging and to source the most environmentally friendly packaging materials that are available; these include recyclable ‘green’ padded envelope, wrapping tape made from brown paper rather than plastic, re-used cardboard boxes, and water-soluble packaging pellets to minimise landfill.
“For those items that still require a bag, we use bio-degradable materials that are fully recyclable.”
“It’s an exciting time for our business and we look forward to building the parts division, widening our customer base and meeting many new faces along the way.”
