The Adjuvo Group | Virtual Traffic Management
This is a real game changer!
If you have to put your staff through highways training or you are a trainer / training centre business you simply have to watch the video below. With technology constantly progressing this is likely to be how a lot of training will be carried out in the future and it is available to use right now.
The Adjuvo Group have developed a virtual reality application designed to assist with the training of road workers who need to place traffic management equipment on the UK road network.
Over 12 months of development time has gone into creating the application, called “Table Top Traffic Management” and it is being released as an off the shelf training aid for businesses to purchase at the Traffex 2019 Expo next week.
You can see it in action, and try it out yourself by visiting stand FO55 at the Traffex show next Tues/Weds/Thurs. The Adjuvo Group stand is right next door to Highways England so you won’t miss it!
Users of the application start the program in the ‘table selection room’ where you have the option of choosing from a practice table, or a number of different exam tables (depending on the modules you have purchased).
The practice table is exactly what it says it is, a table for you to get used to using the application and familiarise yourself with things before attempting one of the exam tables.
The exam tables are split into modules that relate exactly to the existing approved industry training made available through the National Highway Sector Schemes & the New Roads & Street Works Act.
Base Module – Priority, Stop/Go, & Traffic Lights (to match 12D M2 & Unit 2 NRSWA)
Optional Modules – Multi Phase Lights (to match M5), Low Speed Dual Carriageways (to match M3),
As you enter each table there are instructions given so that users know what to do.
Users have full access to the relevant industry guidelines whilst in the virtual world, and are required to study the exact distances between each piece of equipment before placing it accurately on the virtual table top road.
The road itself has a simple scale along the front of it for users to follow and place the equipment accurately. You are also scored on the sequence & orientation of the signs, number of cones, angle of tapers, safety zones, & everything else you would normally expect a competent traffic management operative to be taking into account when installing equipment in a real life situation.
Once they’ve finished the user submits their work and the computer generates a score based on all of those factors. It also highlights to them anything they’ve done incorrectly so they can see where they have lost marks.
You have the option of implementing a time limit on each exam table, and the option of allowing users one more chance after their first submission if desired.
It’s a very enjoyable & immersive way of training your staff in how to set out traffic management in line with the legal requirements, it focuses on getting users used to setting out traffic management equipment in line with the industry legislation, rather than just putting the equipment out without paying much attention to distances etc…, thus keeping your sites compliant and safeguarding your business.
The starter kit for the Table Top Traffic Management application comes complete with a HTC Vive Virtual Reality Headset kit, Vive approved audio headset, and the base software module which includes a practice table and 3 exam tables (to match the existing NHSS 12D M2 & Unit 2 NRSWA Qualifications).
Additional modules are available at a separate cost as required.
A member of the Adjuvo team will set everything up for you and train your staff in its use.
A starter kit c/w a day’s set up and training retails at £3795.00 (£3495.00 without training).
Attendee’s at Traffex next week will be able to secure the starter kit c/w training at a special bargain launch price of only £2500.00! A massive 35% reduction and only available next week at Traffex!
