THS Training – Lantra E-Cards Video Guide: The what, the why and the how…

In a sector where safety, compliance and up-to-date qualifications are critical, THS Training has taken decisive action to address a growing concern within the industry – the low uptake of Lantra E-cards since their introduction in 2024.
Lantra E-cards were introduced to replace traditional physical cards, offering a modern, digital alternative that makes it easier for operatives, employers, and site managers to quickly verify training records and skills.
Despite their benefits, the number of roadworkers and traffic management operatives actively downloading and using their E-cards has remained surprisingly low.
Recognising this as an issue with real implications for site compliance, safety checks, and legal accountability, THS Training has stepped forward to lead the conversation.
“E-cards are not just a convenience – they’re part of the evolution of our industry,” says Gavin Kershaw, founder of THS Training.
“They ensure operatives always have their skills on hand, help site managers carry out checks efficiently, and keep records current and accessible. But right now, too few people are taking advantage of them.”
With that in mind, THS has developed new resources and messaging to educate operatives on how to access and use their E-cards, including guidance as part of its training delivery and follow-up support.

The company has produced video content around E-cards – why they’re required, what they provide, and how to download.
The goal is simple: to ensure that everyone working in safety-critical environments understands their responsibility to hold and produce valid proof of training – something E-cards now deliver more effectively than ever before.
This move is about more than just boosting business for THS. It’s about setting a standard.
As a Lantra Approved provider and member of the Traffic Management Contractors Association (TMCA), THS sees it as part of its responsibility to lead by example – raising awareness, closing knowledge gaps, and helping the wider industry adapt to digital change.
The company hopes that by starting these conversations now, more businesses will follow suit, making E-card awareness part of their own compliance strategies and onboarding processes.
“We’ve always believed in going beyond the training room,” adds Gavin. “This is about helping the industry stay compliant, forward-thinking and professional. It’s about taking the initiative when something clearly isn’t working, and doing something to put it right.”
