TLS | 10 years in the industry – with plenty more to come
Leading labour supply and support services provider Traffic Labour Supplies are celebrating a 10-year milestone as the company toasts to a decade proving the workforces that keep our road network moving.
A brief history
In 2010, Traffic Labour Supplies (TLS) was born with current Director Mark Midson the original owner all those years ago. In 2012, Mark sold the company only to return to the landscape in August 2019 as part of an ownership tandem with Paul Chamley, a long-time member of the TLS team between 2012 and 2019.
The duo now leads TLS into a new era, and despite what is a uniquely challenging time, the future is a very bright one.
TLS: Not just an agency
Traffic Labour Supplies Ltd can supply a varied range of specialist labour to meet any traffic management requirements. motorway maintenance workers or event management support, TLS has the turnkey solution to your planning of specialist labour.
TLS supplies all the major users of temporary labour in the industry and are involved in many of Highways England’s prestigious schemes. In addition, the company also supplies other areas of the industry such as 12D, including the utilities and telecommunications sector, and supply many of the key local authority projects.
At this point, it should be noted: This is far from simply ‘a labour agency’ as TLS delivers a range of support services to add additional value for their customers.
10 years: Consistency and quality
For 10 years, whilst the leadership team has seen a few changes, the fibre and values of TLS has remained. The core values of the business are at the forefront
At Traffic Labour Supplies Ltd, the company’s core values include honesty, to excel in gaining respect from their employees, teamwork and a commitment to building long term relationships with customers. TLS strives to provide a reliable, affordable service that is second to none.
The company also holds a multitude of industry accreditations to tick the box on quality in their services including Achilles, Avetta, Constructionline Gold, ISO 9001, ISO14001 AND ISO18001 as well as being RISQS accredited to supply the rail industry.
As TLS now enters its next decade in business the company’s ambitions and expansion plans include a further increase in labour supply market share.
In 2015 TLS developed its Fastlane software. Designed to make the lives of their clients easier, the software enables users to manage work
schedules, request labour support, amend and review bookings, and request preferred operatives to name just a few benefits.
The software goes beyond making clients lives easier, it also benefits the operatives. Operatives can update timesheets, manage a work schedule, receive job-related news and more.
2020 will see TLS not only launch their updated and improved Fastlane 2 software with many added features, it also sees the company opening their new Construction and Utilities labour supply division. This in addition to a significant investment in vehicles for their full TSCO supply service – with full reporting software linked to the new and improved Fastlane 2 system.
Additional support for your labour
In addition to vital boots on the ground, TLS can support the crews with site vehicles, from small vans up to 3.5t specialist TM vehicles.
It’s a complete support service with the ability to hire fully qualified operatives complete with vehicles.
Not only that, but with an increased demand for operatives on full site closures, TLS are investing significantly in further vehicles – including mobile welfare facilities – to offer their clients.
The company is also currently investing in wearable body cams to protect operatives on road closures as a value-added service for their clients. With key worker safety at the forefront of the industry and indeed the nation right now it is safe to say TLS are leading the way when it comes to going that extra mile.
Director Paul Chamley told us:
“As we move through our 10th year we want to keep pushing the boundaries of what we can achieve. By providing additional services and support networks to both our clients and our operatives we’re looking to set the standard for the UK labour supply industry.”
“This isn’t just about having operatives on the ground, it’s about providing great service to our clients, keeping our operatives safe and sticking to the values that have brought us this far.”
