TMP | Delivering for the IHE 50th anniversary

During October 2015, the Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE) celebrated its 50th anniversary.
As part of the proceedings, TMP Managing Director Dan Robinson was asked to present a seminar for the IHE on the use of IT systems in the Asset Management arena on the 13th October.
The paper examined the attitude toward the use of IT systems in the Asset Management arena, and what are the barriers to them adding the delivery of better and more efficient service. The papers primary data was from an online survey of those responsible for the day to day delivery of asset management within local authorities, therefore those best placed to comment on the barriers.
The presentation delivered also set out a number of suggestions on how these barriers may be overcome, from how funding streams could be used to a LA advantage to the cognitive learning process behind how we learn and ultimately adopt (or not as the case may be) new IT systems.

The presentation went down fantastically well, generating lots of debate during the breaks, sparking numerous discussions as to whether or not IT systems were being used efficiently and effectively within Asset Management- and if not, why not?
We asked Dan how it all went:
“It went really well- I was delighted to be asked firstly. After giving a paper on the changes to TSRDG at another branch meeting last year, this was the second time I had delivered to the group.
“It was great to see so much discussion and opinion throughout as that’s what I was really hoping for- to provoke some thoughts and opinions on IT within the sector. I’m thrilled with how it went and I’d love to present for the IHE again in the future.”
