Course: First Aid at Work (Regulated First Aid Qualification)
Duration: 3 days
Group Size: Maximum 10 delegates
Who should attend: Nominated workplace first aiders, employers who require a first aid at work (FAW) certificate or anyone wanting a comprehensive introduction to first aid. (For requirements visit http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/geis3.htm)
Pre-requisites: Candidates must be physically able to carry out the procedures detailed in the course outline and must attend all sessions to be eligible for assessment.
Course aims: This is a full Qualsafe approved First Aid at Work course, in accordance with the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. This course covers practical skills needed by a first aider in the workplace and will give you the confidence and knowledge to deal with any first aid emergencies.
Upon completion the candidates will have an understanding of:
- First Aid priorities
- Managing Incidents
- Basic Life Support
- Examination of a Casualty
- Control of Bleeding
- Burns & Scalds
- Common Illnesses
- Heart Attacks
- Eye Injuries
- Recording & Reporting
- First Aid Kits
Certification: Upon successful completion certification is valid for 3 years, after which a re-qualification course becomes necessary.
NB: Under the current guidelines it is “strongly recommended” that first aid trained staff attend a 1/2 day update every 12 months – before completing full re-qualification training at the 3 year point.
