Technical Writer

We are currently recruiting for a Technical Writer to work within an existing team. Reporting to the Group Technical Director the Technical Writer will be creating technical documentation such as Operations, Maintenance and Parts Manuals for our varied range of products. The Technical Writer will create effective technical documents to explain the technology, processes, and products. This documentation will be published in both print and online. The Technical Writer will have and be able to demonstrate a good understanding of suitable Health & Safety procedures appertaining to the use of Machinery.
The company work in a number of engineering fields including but not exclusively the following: Road Plant Trailers, Road Rail Equipment, Traffic Management Equipment, Access Platforms, Specialist Trailers for Industry, Hook Loaders, Plant Bodies, Crash Cushions, Military Trailers & Vehicles.
Our customer base includes companies such as: Rolls Royce, British Nuclear Fuels, Network Rail, Balfour Beatty, Sellafield Sites Ltd, Quattro Plant Ltd, British Telecom, Airbus, Lafarge Tarmac, Nationwide Platforms, Hybrid Air Vehicles, EDF Energy, 3DX-Ray.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Acquire a full understanding of the products that we manufactured
- To produce and update Technical Manuals & Documentation
- To create documentation and manuals for new projects and products
- Liaising with Engineers in the production of 3D models
- Liaising with different departments with technical questions
- Maintaining a knowledge base of current legislation pertinent to our products
Skills and experience required:
- Previous engineering background preferable
- Experience of Electrics, Hydraulics, Pneumatics and Health & Safety requirements
- Confident communication both verbal and written
- Knowledge of 3D Modelling systems such as Creo and Pro Engineer
- Methodical
- Process driven
