VIDEO | Mystery of ‘ghost motorbike’ that freaked out motorists
This is the strange moment a motorbike was filmed driving along the motorway – but without a rider.
A perplexed passenger captured the bizarre moment on video as the vehicle – without a motorist – drove on a Parisian motorway in France.
The clip begins with the black and grey bike wobbling slightly as it makes its way down the road, driving close to the central reservation.
Showing no signs of stopping, the cameraman said he was slightly scared and bemused by the incident.
But despite the spooky sight, there was a scientific reason for the occurrence.
The driver had actually fallen off the bike in an earlier collision but it had managed to stay up right and in gear.
Speaking to Le Parisian, the cameraman said: ‘I asked a friend who was with me to take my phone and film.
‘On the video, we can clearly see the two-wheeled, without a biker. Is it a ghost motorcycle?’
It is not known for certain how the bike managed to continue going without a driver.
It is thought the motorist fell off some time before.
The explanation put forward by Parisian stunt expert Jean-Pierre Goy is that the accerlator got stuck. He said bikes could run up to 600 metres without drivers, and sometimes even longer.
