Vivek Chaudhri joins National Highways as a Non-Executive Director

Vivek Chaudhri has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director at National Highways, bringing extensive expertise in IT, digital innovation, and technology leadership.

He has previously held Non-Executive Director roles across both public and private organisations, including East London NHS Foundation Trust and Queen Victoria NHS Hospital Trust, complementing his experience at Vice President and Senior Vice President levels in global companies.

Welcoming the appointment, National Highways Chair Gareth Rhys Williams said: “Vivek has a wide range of technical knowledge and extensive experience in cyber and operations. He has a strong customer and delivery focus, so is the perfect fit for our Board.

“I would like to thank Janette Beinart for her commitment and dedication to National Highways over the years, including acting as interim Chair prior to my tenure starting. We will miss working with her.”

Commenting on his new role, Vivek said: “I understand the level of challenges and cultural change National Highways will face over the coming years as the use of technology becomes more prevalent. I hope I can add real value to the delivery of the organisation’s purpose thanks to my years spent working in digital, data and artificial intelligence. I am looking forward to joining the team at my first Board meeting on March 31.”

Vivek is also the co-founder of the Global Artificial Intelligence Leaders (GAIL) Network. His career includes senior digital leadership positions at top multinational companies:

• SVP, Global Head of Digital Experience & AI at ITC Infotech

• SVP, Group Head of Digital & Data Transformation at BAT

• VP, Global Head of Digital Transformation at Boehringer Ingelheim

• Senior Director, European Head of Digital & Data Transformation at Pfizer

• Director, European Head of Digital & Data at Eli Lilly

As a member of the Board, Vivek will contribute to the Nominations Committee, Remuneration Committee, and Safety Committee. He will succeed Janette Beinart, who stepped down after seven years of service.

National Highways manages, maintains, and enhances over 4,300 miles of motorways and major A-roads across England.
