WDM | Saving Lives Through Safer Roads

W.D.M. Ltd has renewed a partnership with the New Zealand Transport Agency which has helped save hundreds of lives by making journeys safer on the countrys state highway network.
Since the mid-90s WDM® has surveyed New Zealands road network with a specially adapted Sideway-force Coefficient Routine Investigation Machine (SCRIM) measuring wet road skid resistance and using lasers to scan the road surface. Video technology helps delivers the complete set of highway asset data.

Bristol-based WDM® the worlds only licensed manufacturers of SCRIM helped NZTA develop the first state highway skid resistance policy. As a result up to 250 crashes are estimated to have been prevented a saving to the economy of $159.5m!
The renewed partnership charter enables WDM® to continuing developing SCRIM technology providing even more efficient and effective road maintenance services. The Company has shipped out its latest SCRIM to New Zealand earlier this year.

NZTA says the return on investment is between 13 and 35 times showing the policy has been a very efficient and effective safety strategy.
