WJ South | 25th Anniversary Family Day celebrates company history
Saturday 29th June saw WJ host their Family Day to celebrate the 25th anniversary of WJ South – formerly Linkline Maintenance Services Ltd.
The event was a roaring success, fantastically attended by over 200 WJ employees and their families.
One notable attendee was Tom Henrick, the founder of Linkline in 1994. Also, in attendance was Wayne Johnston, WJ Group MD who purchased Linkline in 2007.
WJ South also invited along members of their key supply chain, many of whom have worked alongside the company since 1994 at the company’s inception.
These long-term relationships are a part of the WJ family history, and alongside current WJ staff and their families, a fitting event was held to celebrate the 25th anniversary.
On the day, events for employees’ children were arranged, including the opportunity to emulate parents by way of road marking in a safe environment – using sand instead of hot materials.
In keeping with the employment and family integration, WJ staff were able to grab photo opportunities, having photos taken with their children in the range of WJ trucks present at the event.
On display were several trucks manufactured and supplied by WJ’s in house specialist vehicle fabricators at their workshops in Elland. Each vehicle is designed in association with the crews who are going to use it to ensure it is ideally suited to the job in hand.
- A hot-applied high friction surfacing vehicle
- A road stud milling machine
- A hand screed truck
- A Multi-task rib, extrusion and spray machine
- A feeder vehicle capable of carrying 10 tonnes of material complete with a conveyor system to minimize manual handling
On the day, WJ South Managing Director Andy Stubbs and Group Sustainability Director Paul Aldridge, 2 stalwarts of WJ said a few words to everyone touching on company history, values and what the future holds.
Group MD Wayne Johnson also addressed everyone on the day, and took the time to speak to us about the event:
“Today has encapsulated everything that WJ is about. It’s fantastic to see the extent of the WJ family all in one place, celebrating 25 years of WJ South.
“It’s great to have Tom (Henrick) here to see how the company he founded has developed, and what it has become.
“I’d like to thank everyone here today for attending, as well as thank all our staff for making 25 years possible.”
