Up To Speed Training | National Highway Sector Schemes CSCS Card Checker live on website

Whilst Up To Speed Training are currently ceasing to deliver training and assessments due to Covid-19 safety concerns, the company aren’t ceasing to continue offering either service or value to the sector.
In December 2017, Lantra launched Smartcards for the National Highway Sector Scheme 12.
This was to provide extra value to industry with the CSCS card endorsement scheme and to be able to get electronic confirmation of Learner skills.
In February 2019 Lantra launched the NHSS 12 One Smartcard to make it easier for industry to keep track of their temporary traffic management skills in one easy and manageable location, reducing the new for multiple cards per learner.
During this time the industry was able to scan the smartcards using a mobile app or a USB reader attached to a desktop computer. However, as the actual card was required to enable the user to scan it, this posed some problems due to the nature of the industry meaning that workers are located remotely, all across the UK, therefore presenting the card regularly to an office or anywhere other than the site they were working on was difficult.
Later in the summer of 2019, Lantra started supplying the Gencarda report to Providers upon registration of each Learner. Giving Providers the ability to review and pass on the information electronically across all platforms.
Now, in April 2020, Up To Speed Training can provide you the smart card checker via their website, without the need for having to scan the card.

Front and centre: The Up To Speed website now features the card checker
To use the card checker all you need are two pieces of the learner’s information, the smartcards identity number and the surname of the cardholder, so the cardholder can be working on-site anywhere in the country with the card on their person, and the required department will be able to enter the details and check the smartcard and their valid skills, from a completely different location
The Up To Speed training website can be utilised for the checking of any NHSS 10 and 12 skills, for learners who have been awarded a smartcard, helping providers screen learners for suitability and for employers to ensure the learner’s skill set remain valid and current.
This will be an invaluable tool in a fast-paced industry with an interchanging workforce, enabling higher levels of quality management and a closer eye on safe working.
