Multipave Infrastructure – Ops Director Colin Redmond Takes on The Great Tommy Sleep Out in Support of Veterans

Colin Redmond, Operations Director of Multipave, is preparing to spend a night sleeping under the stars as he takes part in a powerful fundraising initiative in support of the Royal British Veterans Enterprise (RBVE).

On Thursday 26 March 2026, Colin will join other business leaders at The Trenches, Detling Showground, for an exclusive sleep out led by the charity’s Chairman. The event forms part of The Chairman’s ‘Great Tommy Sleep Out 2026’ – a challenge designed to raise awareness and vital funds for veterans facing homelessness and other hardship.

Colin is supporting the charity through the National Highways SDF framework, using the opportunity not only to raise money, but to highlight the importance of structured industry backing for veteran support initiatives.

The Great Tommy Sleep Out encourages participants to give up a night of comfort to reflect the harsh reality experienced by thousands of former servicemen and women across the UK. By sleeping outdoors, supporters help shine a light on the unfortunately all too common issues of unstable housing, mental health challenges and isolation that continue to affect the veteran community.

Royal British Veterans Enterprise has supported veterans for over a century, helping to provide safe homes, employment opportunities and strong, supportive communities. The organisation stands alongside those who once stood on the front line, ensuring they are not forgotten once their service ends.

As a veteran himself, Colin feels a personal connection to this cause.

“As well as generally recognising this work as a fantastic cause, I wanted to get involved as I am a former serviceman, so the work of the charity resonates with me on a personal level,” Colin told us.

“RBVE provides stability, purpose and community for people who have served. In my opinion, no veteran should ever be left without a roof over their head or any support they need post-forces, considering the service they’ve given to their country.”

Colin has set a fundraising target of £500 and is calling on colleagues, partners and the wider industry to get behind the mission.

“I understand the economic climate is challenging at the moment,” he added. “But any donation, big or small, that can be given to support veterans who have fallen on hard times is hugely appreciated by both me, and those who will directly benefit. Every contribution really does make a difference.”

By spending a night in The Trenches, Colin hopes to aid the fundraising that can spark meaningful conversations and ultimately, affect change.
